How to Make the Most of Your South Carolina Beach Vacation
August 17, 2016What to Do When Your Golf Cart Motor Runs But Nothing Happens
August 31, 2016When maintained at the proper PSI (or pounds per square inch), your golf cart tires may very rarely need repair or maintenance. If not properly maintained, however, you may find them wearing out fast, leaving you scratching your head while emptying out your wallet for yet another replacement set.
How can you maintain the correct PSI on your Bad Boy, Cushman, or E-Z-Go tires? We have a few tips.
Don’t Overinflate
The most common issue we see isn’t underinflation, but overinflation. Overinflated tires do not spread the weight of your golf cart as evenly as they are designed to. You’ll be dealing with a far more uncomfortable ride and far less in the way of traction, which can be potentially hazardous when it comes to keeping your family safe. While it’s rare, overinflated golf cart tires have even been known to ‘pop’, or explode, and can do so with enough force to seriously injure those who might be standing nearby.
Underinflation is a Problem, Too
Sometimes, in the zeal not to overinflate, we see clients whose tires are so underinflated they might as well be flat. This will also cause a faster wear and tear, as well as making your golf cart work harder and harder just to hit its basic speeds. Tires that are underinflated are more likely to pick up sharp objects that only serve to let air out even faster. The secret to a long lifespan in your golf cart’s tires has been and remains getting the correct PSI.
How to Find the Right PSI
Luckily, the tires themselves will help you out here. On the sidewall of the tire, you will find the recommended Tire Pressure, or PSI, which is likely to average between 15 – 25 PSI. If you’re unsure, you can also check with the manufacturer of your particular golf cart and see what they recommend, or give us call! Our service and repair department would be happy to point you in the right direction and walk you through the inflation process.
